Prof. Yashpal committee for higher education has given its report to the central cabinet, and Human resource development minister has vowed to implement it in his 100 days agenda. But the million dollar question is, would the government dare to implement this revolutionary report?
If this report is actually implemented, the whole system of education in India would get drastically changed.
Prof. Yashpal has recommended dissolution of all the governing bodies for higher education like UGC, AICTE and NCTE, and making of a single all powerful body named "Council for Higher Education and Research". Needless to say that implementation of such a step would require lot of courage and a lot of bureaucratic barriers which would be lifted at every step to slow down this process.
Similar is the case with the recommendation to scrap the 10th board exams and unifying all the boards of education all over India. The voices of dissent have already begun to arise.
